Behind Closed Doors….
Serious buyers will look inside every closet, cabinet and drawer!
If you think that removing clutter from your walls, counter tops and tables only to hide them in closets or drawers is a good idea… you better think twice!
Most home buyers or looking for homes with more storage space! Keep in mind that buyers will open up and look inside cabinets and pantries. If your closets are full, buyers will think there is not enough space for their belongings!
Here are some tips to show off the size of your closets and cabinets!
- Kitchen– Empty out all cabinets and pantries, toss out any outdated or expired foods and products. Pack-up and store everything that you don’t use on a regular basis and then refill the cabinets only 1/2 to 2/3 full.
- Bathrooms- Organize your families toiletries by using color coordinated baskets or bins labeled with each family member name. Stow these neatly in a cabinet or under the sink making sure spaces are filled only ½ full!
- Closets-Sort through and pull out items that can be given away, folded instead of hung and items that can be packed up for the season or until you move. Rehang items using one consistent hanger style and color fill space only 1/2-2/3 full.
Remember, when a closet, cabinet or drawer is full it looks smaller and a home buyer may think they need to look for a larger home, one that will hold all of their “stuff”!
